Taking Precautions (COVID-19)

At Cinema Center, we’re adapting to the new reality that is impacting all of us with the spread of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We’re certainly concerned about the impact that this is having on our patrons and members, and we hope that each of you will exercise good judgement when venturing out.

In an effort to do the best we can to protect our moviegoers, we reached out to local health experts to obtain sound advice on preventative measures we can take. We received advice on disinfectants, contact time for said disinfectants, and an emphatic plea to not double dip when wiping with disinfectant cloths. In addition to us doing our part to clean surfaces, handles and theater seats, we ask that you practice frequent handwashing with soap and water and employ a technique called “social distancing” that will now take on new meaning in this context. (I feel I’ve been practicing social distancing my whole life for what it’s worth.)

It’s now socially acceptable to sit far apart.

I also learned a new “pro tip” today. Hand sanitizer kills bacteria, but it may not kill the Coronavirus. Hand sanitizer must be > 60 % ethyl alcohol to be effective against the Coronavirus. We welcome you to head down the hall to the restroom to wash your hands for 20+ seconds while singing the alphabet, citing your favorite movie monologue, or singing the refrain to an ice-themed Disney movie. Whatever it takes, just get those 20 seconds in.

We hope to see you this weekend...or not. In the meantime, we’re cooking up some great films, events and collaborations to enjoy in the coming months.
